Galapagos Islands “Best Islands in the World” an international award by Travel & Leisure Magazine.
The Galapagos were chosen as the best islands in the world, oust Bali, Indonesia, which happens to occupy the second place.
This designation is part of the ‘World’s Best Awards 2008′ of the U.S. Travel & Leisure magazine, which specializes in tourism. The awards on Sunday night were held in New York, USA.The Galapagos Islands were chosen by thousands of readers of the magazine through a poll that was conducted in early 2008, who chose the preferred locations for their trips.
According to the representatives of Travel & Leisure, the Galapagos are “still virgin islands where birds, lizards and sea lions live in freedom and without any fear of the presence of humans. This is undoubtedly one of the ecological treasures of South America, first-class tourist claim for Ecuador since Darwin places on the map with his research on the evolution of species by natural selection”.
Nancy Novogrod, editorial director of the magazine, was commissioned to deliver the prize for ‘Best Set Islands in the World’ and the
‘Best Joint Islands from Mexico, Central and South America’, through the Tourism Promotion Office in Ecuador for U.S. and Canada.
Continuing with nominations in the ladder of cities Issue 1, the post was number two to Buenos Aires and the sixth for Cuzco, Peru.
Travel & Leisure is a monthly magazine that reaches approximately 1 000.000 readers of high-level U.S. economic and potential passengers.
