Galapagos Islands and Machu Picchu review
Dear LatinAmerica4Less,
My husband and I recently returned from a trip I booked through you:
Galapagos Islands and Machu Picchu (August 17-28). Overall, we were pleased with the trip In Peru, and in Ecuador, the representatives were prompt and professional. We really appreciated the airport transfers! It made the trip so easy to arrive at the airport and have someone waiting for us. We stayed at standard level hotels and with one exception, we were pleased with the accommodations.
The one exception in service and accommodations was our stay in Aguas Calientes and visit to Machu Picchu. The representative at the Aguas Calientes train station was not helpful and the process was very disorganized. We did find our tour guide for Machu Picchu, however we did not receive our lunch voucher for that day. We were booked at the hotel Inti Winayuayna in Aguas Calientes. We would by no means consider that hotel a “standard level.” The hotel is located outside of the main area of town, in a residential area and it didn’t have a sign, so it was very hard to locate. Our room had no windows to the outside: it was like a small concrete box. There was a thin sliding window to the hallway which didn’t provide much security or privacy. The room was damp and had an odor; there was a large water spot on the ceiling and a noisy dehumidifier that ran frequently. We were disturbed by the condition of the hotel and decided to leave and book a room at another hotel. I’ve attached some pictures of our hotel room. We are disappointed that we had to spend hundreds of dollars to make this part of the trip acceptable. I feel strongly that you should not offer the Inti Winayuayna in your packages and you should be aware of the service issues in Aguas Calientes.
Aside from the issues, it was an enjoyable trip that went smoothly.
Thank you,
J. Sasse
